TEN ways to bring FREE extra traffic to your website

Within the last six months, we at Andree & Associates had been working with many different companies in building better websites and driving significant traffic to their websites. With each website we initially started with the goal of building better search engine rankings, by doing some website re-design, search engine optimization and other. Along the way we found the bring FREE extra traffic to your website as described below.

Hope they work for you, the way they have work for my company and different clients.

1.- Event Coverage: this is simple try attending events that are related to your customer niche. Basically narrow your audience, target groups of people that have interests in certain things for example, Off-roading, insurance, lawyers, computer consultants, car racing, chamber of commerce meetings, or just business oriented groups. You can also narrow by county, city, state or country depending on your advertising budged.

So for example if you are targeting people in the car racing area you would need to participate in a car show, be a racing team sponsor, or just attend a local car racing event. Take pictures and notes and publish them on your website so people can browse the pictures and comment on them.

It’s very important to let people in the event know that you will be posting a review and pictures on your website. Also print some flyers and hand them over to help people remember your website address, if available create a special offer, something like “Browse the event pictures on our website after X or Y date and get 15% discount on any product” will do the trick.

2.- Graphic and web design: graphic and website design is a must, both your website and graphics need to be simple and to the point remember the old say “Keep it Simple Stupid”, no need for a really complex site or graphic. Get to the point! And deliver the right message to your customers. I know we’ve been doing a site re-design at DomainCarts.com for a while now and believe me the results are going incredible, each time we grow or change the website our traffic grows and grows.

3.- Leveraging Social Networks: there are many social networks and bookmarking sites out there, it’s not just facebook, twitter or linked in. There’s also Digg.com, Storyfollower.com, reddit.com, newsvine.com, delicious.com, buzzy.com and many, many more.

Post your links to as many social networks and bookmarking sites as possible, many of these sites will require you to create a FREE account with them, but hey let me tell you, it requires some time but the juice is worth the squeeze.

4.- Blogging and blog comments: Blogging is always a good method to bring extra traffic to your website, the problem with blogging is that many website owners don’t have the time or they just don’t know what to blog about when in fact it’s pretty easy, write about what you know or like, for example; I have a client that owns a cleaning company and they serve customers in the greater San Diego area, we  currently maintain their website www.powercleanusa.com where we post blog articles about cleaning tips, these are then publish on social media sites and clicked by fans, followers, and also crawled by search engines.

5.- Offer something incredible: This is simple! Make people an offer they can’t miss, something like “Buy a domain name online and get 10% discount on all orders of $50 or more! At http://domaincarts.com/50w10off.htm” or “Quote your car insurance online at http://sameday-insurance.com and start saving money now!”

Similar or same offers can drive tremendous traffic to your website without too much effort and will get you results over time. The point is to get potential customers interested in visiting your website.

6.- Lead magnets: Basically a lead magnet is a special offer made for one purpose only, for example if you were in the need to build an email list you would them develop a graphic that could read “Signup for our newsletter and receive an instant 15% discount on any car insurance”, you would then print this as a poster and or a big banner an put it in your office entrance right by the door so every customer can read it and know what it’s about. Additionally let every customer know about this special offer that you have.

You don’t have to use a lead magnet to build your email list only, you can also use magnets to drive customers to your website but you would then change the advertising line a bit, a simple wording change can work! “Visit our website and receive an instant 15% discount on any car insurance when you quote online”

7.- Free classifieds: I know what you’re thinking! Really FREE classifieds!!! Well yes! There are many sites out there that offer free classified services, some examples would be: freeclassifieds.com, classifiedsforfree.com, craigslist.com and other services. This is great specially because it’s free advertising and you also get a back link to your site totally free.

8.- Search Engine Optimization: SEO the way I’ve come to understand it, it’s easy but it does require a lot of ongoing hard work and constant website content updates, it’s not just putting keywords on the website, it’s a lot more than that and my recommendation is that you should hire a professional to do this work for you. The whole idea about SEO it’s a simple basic concept: to focus your webpage content on the specific product or niche you’re trying to sell or go for. 9.- Search Engine Submitting: This is pretty simple, if you want to get your website listed in Google, Yahoo, Bing and other search engines around the world. It is not required for you to submit your website, most if not all search bots will find your website in time, but this could take months if not years, so it’s always good to submit it and let search engines know that you exist!  There are many SEO companies or webmasters that will submit your site to search engines around the world for a small cost giving you the opportunity to be a little more prominent in search engine results, good SEO companies are usually around $29 to $69 per year or per submission. 10.- Press Releases: Publicity is always good right! And press releases is a good form of publicity on the internet, it’s a form of spreading the word and letting everyone know what NEW thing/product/service/event you have in your company/business. Every time you submit a press release on the internet you get hundreds of back links to your site that generate more and more traffic to your website and we all know traffic equals cash! In addition once search engines crawl these links, your site becomes more popular on the internet and helps you with site ranking and other details.     1. Hi, we do get some spam comments, but you need to see if there are spam comments or trackbacks. You can disable trackbacks on the admin settings on wordpress.

      If it’s in deed spam maybe a text verification plugin will do the trick.

    1. We do use wordpress, for the platform. Go to wordpress.com and download the latest copy it’s pretty easy to install, and no you won’t need any knowledge like I said it’s pretty easy.
